Heating in a Vacuum Environment
Drying in a vacuum environment allows us to boil water at a lower temperature, providing a gentle drying environment for our timbers. By lowering the pressure in the kiln to approximately one inch of Mercury, we're able to boil water at 90° F (water typically boils at 212° F).
Because we require less heat to boil water, the vacuum environment helps us conserve energy, and minimize our impact on the environment as well.
